About Me
Applied Mindfulness & Somatic Coach
I spent years thinking my way around my problems. As a high-achiever and a natural intellectualizer, I believed that if I just understood the why behind my stress or my relationships, I’d be able to fix it. But the truth was, I was stuck in my head while my body was living in a constant state of survival. Despite being an expert at explaining my patterns, I couldn't seem to change them. Eventually, I learned that my brilliant brain was using logic as a defense mechanism. It was helping me stay "safe" by keeping me disconnected. It wasn't until I moved past the why and into the how of my nervous system that I finally found the freedom I was looking for.
That shift didn’t happen overnight through some massive epiphany. The reality is that it was a series of small, quiet practices that built up over time, which were put to the test during a particularly rough forty-eight hours. In that short window, I left a six-year manipulative relationship and was blindsided by a layoff. Before I could blink, my income became zero, my rent had doubled, and my nervous system had completely short-circuited. I was trapped in a three-day panic attack that no amount of thinking could stop.
Something finally clicked during that experience, and I realized I wasn't in imminent danger even though my brain was screaming otherwise. I stopped simply understanding the theory of mindfulness and started embracing the experience of it. Using the same tools I now teach, I was able to move my body out of survival mode and back into regulation. The situation hadn't changed, but I had.
I ended up going back to school for my Masters and dove deep into the neuroscience of mindfulness because, frankly, I'll never stop being an intellectualizer, and I wanted to understand the mechanics of that shift. Today, I use a somatic approach to help people rewire patterns that no longer serve them, so they can step back into alignment with their purpose and connect deeply with the world around them.
